About Us

We are a cross-continental organization of friends and family, gifted with unique skill-sets in the areas of emergency aid delivery, farm education, writing, and fundraising. Our combined experience amounts to decades of service to the most vulnerable and marginalized of our world.

The organization was formed in 2016 stemming from the chaos in South Sudan caused by an outbreak of ethnic tribal based civil war between the president and former vice president of the new nation. Many were displaced from their homes and forced to settle in makeshift camps as far from the fighting as possible. Thousands of people flooded into remote areas only to discover limited access to water and subsequently food. Fueled by war, the problems of the South Sudanese grew ever more complex.

Boy at well

Through our respective organizations at the time we participated in the aid process during this crisis but noted a growing demand amongst donors to see a larger percentage of their contributions going directly towards the needs of the people on the ground.

And thus DART was formed. We decided to provide a way for our donors to allocate 100 percent of their gifts directly to our aid and development project partners, without a penny going to DART's overhead. This has really resonated with our donors, and actually frees up many to give more, knowing their dollar will go directly to the cause. That said, aside from the Dart Longevity Fund, each of our fundraising campaigns allocate all contributions directly to the cause at hand.

The foreign aid system is a mess; organizations whose original intent was to eradicate poverty are now thriving on its continuation.

While the catalyst of our formation was disaster, the main hope of our organization is to support the ongoing sustainability of community development projects worldwide, effectively bringing people out of poverty and positions of dependence. Regardless, we understand that we have a responsibility to answer the call when disaster strikes. It is within this delicate balance that we seek to operate as an organization.

We encourage all of our friends to watch the documentary Poverty Inc to gain a better understanding of the philosophy behind DART's aim for sustainability as an organization.
